| Since I failed to keep up with my 2013 film challenge, I'm determined to do better with this year's challenge. The bases of the challenge that I came across on Tumblr was to watch a movie or documentary you have never seen before every day. Anyone can start their own Film Challenge thread as well! Just one rule! Rule: You must give a small review about your thoughts on the film. Documentaries are allowed and rating the film is optional. - Movies 001 - 010:

Bronies
A documentary about how the fourth generation of a franchise aimed towards young girls gained a very unexpected huge fanbase of males fans who are primarily in high school and college. The documentary follows several bronies and talks about My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic has huge potential of being part of a revolution that guys can like "girl shows" and girls can like "guy shows" without judgement. I even had a few tear jerk moments with how happy I was for some of the bronies in how they were happy and so proud to love a show that is considered a "girl's show" even with all the judgement from society. It's truly an amazing documentary that covers why this show is amazing for anyone.

It was alright. We got to see two new characters to the DC animation world, Karate Kid and Dawnstar. Basically it was an Avatar: The Last Airbender reunion with Dante Basco as Karate Kid, Grey DeLisle as Wonder Woman, and Jack DeSena as Robin. It's the typical future kids did something wrong, villain goes to the past to disrupt the future and the Justice League have to do what they can to fix the paradox. Not one of the best movies to come from DC.

Justice League: War
Another alright movie. It's basically another Justice League origin movie though it seems to be leaning more towards the New 52 World.

While I do like the movie and have a few of the songs on my phone, it's not my favorite. I loved everything about Elsa, was awed by the animation, and did laugh at some of the quirkiness of the movie. What I didn't enjoy about the movie (and I'm keeping in mind their primary demographic were children) was Olaf and "Fixer Upper". While Olaf had some good points he was really annoying for my taste of characters, but he was the comic relief and I accept that. "Fixer Upper", I just didn't like the song in general.

I absolutely adored this movie that I went to go see it twice with each parent. As a design major this is huge to what being a designer and artist today because this is part of our culture and art heritage as much as it was for those European cultures where those art works helm from. I hope to someday see majority of those artworks in person and remember that they were men who was in WWII assigned to protect these priceless art works to continue the culture and heritage for generations after them. Though if we were able to temporarily be in an alternate universe without punishment, I would have loved to see what the Führer Museum would have looked like completed because that was the point of that museum. It was supposed to have a massive collection of stolen artwork and be intimidating. The movie also had an amazing cast.

I did not watch this movie by choice. This was the movie that was playing in the lobby during my first visit to MEPS. It was an okay movie, but not an interested to me.

The Croods
This movie was poorly marketed! When they were advertising this movie and showing the trailers in theaters I didn't care about this movie at all. Again this movie was playing of MEPS when I visited a second time. The character development and storyline was amazing, very cliche ending, but that's okay because I enjoyed what the characters went through in the movie from start to finish. And the animation was beautiful as well.

The Starving Games
A Hunger Games parody movie. I have a bit of a soft spot for parody movies because of the various culture jokes and references used.

Kill Bill Vol. 1
The story is okay, I just loved it for the little dumb giggle moments and amazing martial arts choreography. I was surprised with the ending of Volume 1 though! Definitely going to watch Vol. 2 for sure.

While it wasn't bad, it wasn't as good in my opinion. They kept switching between Japanese and Chinese in one scene. I'm not sure if it was because she didn't actually know Chinese and was answering in Japanese instead or a poor job on production.

I tried to give this movie a try since I had to read the graphic novel for a class. I was bored out of my mind. While the cinematography was amazing, the story was just as bland as the graphic novel.

My Little Pony: The Runaway Rainbow
I only watched it because it was what came up in the Netflix Roulette. It was hard to watch this since the first My Little Pony I watched was Friendship is Magic. It's definitely good for a little kid to watch as it's all about being joyful and having ponies. Though I don't recall seeing any pegasi. Only unicorns and ponies. Also only mares and no stallions.
Though it was interesting seeing some ponies in their original form in contrast to their Friendship is Magic form. They even have the breezies!

3/5 Would recommend that one? If you don't mind the occasional crude jokes, then yes. It was one of the better parody movies I've seen. |
