Just an announcement/reminder that DS and Wii, along with their games, will be shut down. While you can still play those games and interact with other players locally, you will not be able to play with others via Internet.

An example being the Pokemon games. You can't trade over the Internet anymore. With the Wii, if you want anything to do with the Internet you can't. Netflix won't be effected since they're a separate server to Nintendo's.

Does that mean the VC and wiiware on the Wii is effected?

According to the link above "Other online functionality—such as access to the Wii Shop Channel, the Nintendo DSi Shop, and video-on-demand services—is also not affected at this time."

So I'm going to assume WiiWare won't be affected unless there is a WiiUWare (I don't have a Wii U so I don't know).

Virtual Console. Sorry ^^* I couldnt think of the Wii's shop name was so I put VC. 

The WiiU and the 3DS both use the same shopping service. The eshop. There is no wii ware on the Wiiu. Everything is organized differently than the Wii's shopping service.

I'm going to assume then it won't work anymore. As for the Virtual Console, I'm also going to assume if it's on the WiiU should be fine.

There are more VC games on the Wii than the Wii U. Nintendo you do need to put some N64 games on the Wii U! I would like to play some Majora's Mask!   

Like seriously most VC games on the Wii U is NES games I don't care for.

Well if you read the [ link ] There is a list of games that will no longer function. It's a small list for WiiWare and I don't see Virtual Console on there at all.

Yeah it dont see it anywhere. I guess I will have to buy the games I want and move them to my Wii U.

When in doubt you can also call Nintendo Support and ask them.

I heard people are going to try find ways to get online play back. I guess make their servers or something?
